About Artist:
Hadi Jamali, an Iranian illustrator, and painter gained recognition for his expressive and abstract paintings emerging post-1990s. Initially studying painting at the Tehran Academy of Fine Arts, he later pursued interior design at the Faculty of Decorative Arts in 1971. Following a hiatus, he resumed his education and earned a master's degree in industrial design from the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Islamic Azad University in 1996, subsequently joining the university's faculty. Alongside painting, he taught architecture and authored several art education books for high school students. Jamali showcased his works in numerous exhibitions in Iran and abroad, securing the third International Painting Biennial of the Islamic World in 2004. Additionally, he was a member of the +30 group from 2000, comprising artists with varied styles, hosting exhibitions globally before disbanding in the mid-2000s.
Post-graduation from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Jamali delved into children's book illustration, notably contributing to works like "An Autumn Morning." Initially incorporating calligraphy and traditional writing elements into his abstract paintings, he later transitioned to utilizing colored squares and rectangles, as noted by Pakbaz. His abstract works on aluminum sheets from the late 1990s often feature grooving, stitching, coloring, and color washing, evoking a rough texture reminiscent of skin or wounds yet to heal.
