About Artist:
Reza Bangiz, a contemporary Iranian artist born in 1937 in Tehran, was captivated by art from his earliest memories, influenced by his family's involvement in various artistic endeavors. Growing up surrounded by creativity, Bangiz's passion for art blossomed, leading him to pursue formal education in painting at the Tehran Conservatory of Fine Arts, graduating in 1961. Despite facing setbacks during attempts to continue his studies abroad, Bangiz returned to Iran, where he embarked on a teaching career, immersing himself in the world of linocut and pottery, exhibiting his works in Tabriz before relocating to Isfahan.In 1972, Bangiz seized a scholarship opportunity in France, enriching his artistic repertoire and returning to Tehran to further his studies. His innovative spirit led him to experiment with unconventional mediums like baked mud, showcasing his creations in exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Renowned for his whimsical prints infused with elements of folk art and humor, Bangiz's distinctive style garnered accolades, including awards at Tehran biennials and the prestigious Order of Culture and Art and he has participated in group, individual, and international exhibitions in Tokyo, Belgium, Paris, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, Zagreb, America, Istanbul, France, and all Tehran and Asia biennials. With a versatile portfolio spanning sculpture, engraving, and pottery, Bangiz continues to captivate audiences with his evocative and multifaceted artistic expressions.
